Wow, Wow and double Wow!!
I had no idea what to expect from this book. In the early stages I found myself at risk of being too distracted by the sheer brilliance of his writing style to actually get a grasp on the evolvement of the tale being told.
I have absolutely no knowledge or experience of Indoor Ice Skating Rinks. His use of Skating Rink terminology and references to the building structure etc did indeed have a very important place in the book, and as the pages turned I felt I was learning along the way.
It has all the Feels of the standard horror/thriller but is NOT a book to be rushed. It deserved every ounce of effort I spent devouring it.
If you like very descriptive and creative writing styles then you will enjoy this Gem. I found this kept my reading at a pace that did it full justice.
It even left me researching Indoor Skating Rinks and the terminology etc. Not many books can be that inspiring.....
Well written and captivating. I encourage you to give it a chance. I am sure you will be blown away as I was. Definitely following this author and actively looking for more of his material right now.

The Rink is pure atmospheric horror. From the snow-choked setting to the slow burn of dread, this book crawls under your skin and stays there. Genuinely creepy, beautifully paced, and impossible to forget.

Another excellent book from Steve Tovey. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. It is well written and gripping, a real page turner.

This is a nicely done classic horror slasher novel. It has a nice pace to it and a great writing style, especially when describing each little detail.

This is a great novel. Another superb piece of work by Steve Tovey. I really love all the 80s references.

Fast-paced, tense, and genuinely creepy. The ice rink setting is perfect, and the story builds nonstop dread right up to the final pages. Read it in two sittings and was thinking about it long after. Great horror.

I flew through this in a couple of sittings. The setting is brilliantly claustrophobic and the tension just keeps building. It has that classic slasher feel but still manages to feel fresh. A really gripping, easy-to-read horror with a strong finish.

I picked this up for the slasher premise and ended up staying for the characters. The setting is fantastic, the tension keeps building, and there were several genuinely creepy moments. By the end, I was far more invested in the survivors than I expected. A great winter horror read.

This has everything I want in a horror novel: a unique setting, a steady build-up of suspense, and a killer that genuinely kept me guessing. The snowy Swiss backdrop makes the whole story feel isolated and eerie. I couldn't stop turning the pages and really enjoyed the ending.

This really captures the feel of an old-school 80s slasher. Six friends trapped inside an empty ice rink during a snowstorm is such a creepy setup, and the Matterhorn backdrop makes it even better. Tense, atmospheric and very hard to put down. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The character interactions feel grounded, observant, and entirely real. Tovey builds tension quietly and effectively, crafting a story with real heart, sharp observation, and a welcome bit of grit. Pacey, evocative, and thoroughly satisfying from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Suspense horror / slasher vibe the ice rink brings the suspenseful creepy feeling being trapped, claustrophobic feeling and dread of the tension building over each night , it was intense and gripped me from start to finish I am a big slasher/ horror fan. I was invested in the book in the story and come towards then end excitement and nervous wanting to see characters outcomes and endings. It was chilling and a fearful glint behind it yet I was constantly ready for more. I appreciate the old school references too I am now a big fan of the author thanks to this book and I’m already planning starting another one of his this week.

This was a gripping read from the start and I could not put it down! Different idea of basing the story in an ice rink, but Steve Tovey managed to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up many times throughout. Almost as eerie as sleeping in a church graveyard.

I did not expect the ending, but this is an all round rollercoaster of emotions, from light moments to dark moments which made my heart beat so quickly. Amazing read!!

Absolutely thrilling book. There were so many twists and turns and parts of suspense I could not put it down! The writing of the author was so descriptive it was almost like I was there. I really hope that there is a sequel to this.

WOW what a great read. The suspense and tension in this book leaves you wanting more. Set in an old rink this book has you enthralled in its dramatic story line.

Great mini horror book, one killer spooky night on an ice rink. Gives all the chills.

I really enjoyed the setting of this one. An empty ice rink in the middle of winter is already pretty creepy, but add in a snowstorm, strange noises, hidden rooms and a group of friends essentially trapped inside and it makes a great backdrop for a horror story.

It starts off as more of a slow burn, giving you time to get to know the characters while gradually introducing the feeling that something isn’t quite right. Once things start going wrong though, it becomes much more of a traditional slasher and the pace really picks up.

I particularly liked the late 80s setting and all the little details that came with it. The rink itself almost feels like another character and there are some genuinely unsettling scenes, especially when they start discovering more about its history.

There were a few moments where I felt some of the descriptions could have been tightened up and the horror tropes are definitely familiar, but I still had a lot of fun with it.

Overall, a creepy and entertaining read with a brilliant setting. Definitely one for fans of old-school slashers and isolated-location horror.
